Muslims Across Qatar and the Gulf Celebrate Eid al-Fitr With Prayers and Unity

Muslims across Qatar and the wider Gulf region celebrated Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with prayers, family gatherings, and expressions of unity that resonated from Doha to cities around the world.

Thousands of worshippers gathered at mosques across the State of Qatar for the traditional Eid prayers at dawn, with the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha hosting one of the largest congregations in the country. His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani extended his congratulations to the people of Qatar and the Muslim world, calling for solidarity and compassion during the festive occasion.

The celebrations carried a particularly poignant tone this year as communities across the region offered prayers for the people of Gaza, where the humanitarian crisis continues to cast a long shadow over the holiday. Religious leaders in Qatar used their Eid sermons to call for an end to the suffering of Palestinian civilians and to reaffirm Qatar's ongoing commitment to mediation and humanitarian relief efforts in the besieged territory.

Qatar's Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs organized a series of community events and charitable distributions throughout the country, ensuring that migrant workers and residents of all nationalities could participate in the festivities. The Qatar Red Crescent Society announced the completion of its annual Eid aid campaign, which delivered food parcels and financial assistance to vulnerable families in more than a dozen countries.

Across the Gulf Cooperation Council states, leaders exchanged congratulatory messages emphasizing brotherhood and regional cooperation. The celebrations underscored the deep cultural and religious bonds that unite the Gulf nations, even as they navigate complex geopolitical challenges on the international stage.

In Doha, shopping centers, parks, and waterfront promenades were filled with families enjoying the three-day holiday. The Katara Cultural Village hosted special performances and exhibitions, while Souq Waqif drew large crowds eager to enjoy traditional Qatari cuisine and festive entertainment.

The occasion also served as a moment of reflection on Qatar's growing role as a diplomatic hub, with officials noting that the spirit of Eid aligns closely with the nation's broader commitment to dialogue, peace, and humanitarian engagement worldwide.
