Hezbollah Claims Rocket Attack on Israeli Soldiers at Misgav Am Site

Hezbollah announced Tuesday that it carried out a rocket attack targeting a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Misgav Am site in the Upper Galilee region, in the latest exchange of fire along the volatile Lebanese border.

The Lebanese resistance movement said its fighters fired rockets at Israeli military personnel assembled at the northern Israeli position near the Lebanese frontier. The statement, published by the group's military media wing, claimed the strike had hit its intended target directly, though no casualty figures were provided.

Misgav Am, a kibbutz situated approximately three kilometres from the Lebanese border, has been the site of repeated exchanges since Hezbollah opened what it calls a support front for Gaza in October 2023, following the outbreak of the war in the Palestinian enclave. The area has witnessed near-daily cross-border fire, with Israeli retaliatory strikes targeting Hezbollah positions and villages across southern Lebanon.

The attack comes as ceasefire negotiations remain deadlocked and the humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to worsen. Lebanese authorities have documented significant civilian displacement in the south as Israeli strikes have targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and residential areas across the border region.

Qatar has been among the most vocal Arab states calling for a comprehensive ceasefire across all active fronts, including Lebanon. The Qatari Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stressed that the expansion of conflict into Lebanese territory represents a dangerous escalation threatening regional stability, warning that further deterioration risks catastrophic consequences for Lebanon's fragile institutions and civilian population.

Doha has played a central mediating role in Gaza ceasefire talks through its sustained engagement with Hamas political leadership and coordination with international partners. Qatari officials have consistently urged all parties to halt hostilities and return to diplomatic channels as the only path toward a durable resolution.

Gulf states have watched the northern front with deepening alarm. Officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have issued unified calls for restraint, while the Arab League has demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities along the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah has framed its campaign of cross-border fire as sustained military pressure intended to support the Palestinian cause in Gaza, vowing to continue operations until a permanent ceasefire is established in the enclave. Israel has responded with strikes on Hezbollah positions, weapons depots, and command infrastructure in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon has reported a marked increase in the frequency and intensity of cross-border fire in recent weeks, warning that the situation risks spiraling beyond the control of any single party and into an all-out conflict neither side has declared it seeks.
