Iranian Missile Barrages Against Israel Show Notable Uptick in Recent Days

The sustained US-Israeli air campaign targeting Iranian missile infrastructure has shown signs of strain in recent days, as operational fatigue and reported munitions shortages force a reduction in sortie rates, even as Tehran dramatically escalates its own missile barrages against Israeli territory.

Military analysts tracking the conflict said the visible slowdown in US-Israeli strikes on Iranian ballistic missile production and storage facilities — sites that had been hit repeatedly over preceding weeks — reflects both the logistical limits of a prolonged high-tempo air campaign and growing pressure on munitions stockpiles within the combined US-Israeli air power framework.

Iran, meanwhile, has moved in the opposite direction. The Islamic Republic launched more than ten missiles in the latest barrage, a sharp increase in volume over previous salvos, and regional monitors expect the pace to accelerate further in the days ahead. The missiles targeted Israeli territory, with Israeli air defense systems engaged to intercept the incoming projectiles.

The escalation marks a dangerous new phase in the conflict, which has drawn in US air assets based in the Gulf region and raised acute alarm among Gulf Cooperation Council states over the risk of wider conflagration. Qatar, which maintains diplomatic channels with multiple parties to the conflict and hosts the forward headquarters of US Central Command at Al Udeid Air Base, has called repeatedly for de-escalation and a return to negotiations.

Qatar's foreign ministry has urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, warning that further escalation risks engulfing the broader region and threatening civilian populations across the Gulf. Doha's unique position — hosting both American military infrastructure and maintaining open lines of communication with Tehran — places it at the center of any viable diplomatic off-ramp.

The United States has deployed additional air defense assets to the region in recent weeks, and American warships in the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf have participated in missile intercept operations. However, the reported depletion of certain precision munitions stockpiles has complicated sustained offensive air operations against hardened Iranian targets, which are often buried deep underground.

Analysts warn that Iran's missile arsenal, while degraded by weeks of strikes, retains significant capacity for continued barrages. The apparent willingness in Tehran to absorb the damage and respond in kind suggests the conflict has entered a war-of-attrition phase, where both sides are testing the limits of each other's strategic endurance.

Regional governments, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, have quietly signaled concern about spillover risks, while Qatar has taken a more vocal stance pushing for internationally mediated negotiations. The coming days will be critical in determining whether any diplomatic initiative can gain traction before the exchange of fire reaches a point of no return.
