Israel Strike Kills Three Palestinians Southeast of Deir al-Balah

Israeli forces struck a location southeast of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on Monday, killing at least three Palestinians in the latest lethal attack on the besieged territory, according to Al Jazeera Mubasher correspondents on the ground.
The strike targeted an area in the central Gaza Strip, where Israeli military operations have intensified in recent weeks despite growing international pressure for a permanent ceasefire. Palestinian medical sources reported that the three victims were killed at the scene, with no immediate word on the number of wounded.
Deir al-Balah has become one of the most densely populated areas in Gaza as hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have sought shelter in central and southern parts of the Strip following the near-total destruction of northern Gaza. The city and its surrounding areas have seen repeated Israeli strikes, compounding an already catastrophic humanitarian situation.
The deaths bring the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023 to well over 51,000, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, with the true toll believed to be significantly higher due to bodies still buried under rubble across the territory.
Qatar, which has served as the primary mediator in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, has repeatedly condemned Israeli strikes on civilian-populated areas and called for an immediate and permanent end to hostilities. The Qatari government and its diplomatic partners, including Egypt and the United States, have continued intensive efforts to broker a new ceasefire agreement following the collapse of a previous deal.
Doha-based Al Jazeera Media Network, whose journalists continue to provide on-the-ground coverage despite the killing of several of its correspondents during the conflict, reported the strike as part of a broader pattern of daily Israeli bombardment that has left virtually no safe zone in the 365-square-kilometre territory.
Humanitarian agencies operating in Gaza warn that the civilian population faces compounding crises of famine, disease, and displacement, with the United Nations describing conditions in the Strip as among the worst humanitarian disasters in modern history. International calls for accountability under international humanitarian law continue to grow as the death toll rises with no immediate end to the conflict in sight.
