Israeli Drone Targets Ambulance Near Al-Qulaylah Road in Southern Lebanon

An Israeli drone struck an ambulance on the road near the town of Al-Qulaylah in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to footage and reports circulated by Al Jazeera's live broadcast channel, raising fresh alarm over the targeting of medical personnel and protected vehicles in the ongoing conflict.

The attack marks another reported violation of international humanitarian law, which explicitly prohibits attacks on ambulances, medical staff, and health infrastructure under the Geneva Conventions. The strike drew immediate condemnation from human rights observers monitoring the situation along Lebanon's southern border, where tensions have remained dangerously elevated in the months following a ceasefire agreement.

Al-Qulaylah is a coastal town in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon, a region that has been repeatedly struck by Israeli air and drone operations since the outbreak of hostilities linked to the Gaza conflict in late 2023. Lebanese civil defense units and Red Cross personnel have continued to operate under extreme risk in the area, with multiple incidents of emergency vehicles coming under fire documented over the past year.
