Israeli Forces Arrest Three Young Men During Raids in Tubas and Tayasir

Israeli occupation forces arrested three Palestinian young men during overnight raids on the city of Tubas and the village of Tayasir in the northern West Bank, local sources confirmed on Tuesday.

The detainees were identified as Mohammed Abu Alaideh, Youssef Malik Qasrawi, and Mohammed Jamal Daraghma. Sources close to the families said the arrests were carried out in the early morning hours as Israeli military vehicles stormed residential areas in both locations, setting up checkpoints and conducting searches of homes before taking the three men into custody.

No immediate statement was issued by the Israeli military regarding the arrests or the charges the detainees may face. Palestinian detainees are frequently held under administrative detention orders, which allow Israeli authorities to imprison individuals for extended periods without charge or trial under a mechanism that human rights organisations have repeatedly condemned as a systematic tool of collective punishment.

Tubas, located in the northern Jordan Valley, has been a recurring flashpoint for Israeli military incursions. The area falls within what Israeli military orders designate as Area C, giving Israeli forces full civil and security control and leaving Palestinian residents particularly exposed to raids, displacement, and land seizures.

The arrests come amid an intensifying Israeli military campaign across the occupied West Bank that has seen a dramatic surge in detentions, home demolitions, and lethal raids since October 2023. According to Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups, thousands of Palestinians have been detained since the beginning of Israel's military offensive in Gaza, with many held under conditions that rights groups describe as amounting to torture.

Qatar has consistently called for international accountability over Israeli detention practices, with the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs repeatedly urging the international community to pressure Israel to respect international humanitarian law and the rights of Palestinian detainees. Doha has also played a central diplomatic role in hostage and prisoner exchange negotiations between Israel and Hamas, underscoring the Gulf state's sustained engagement on the issue of Palestinian captives and detainees.

The United Nations and several European governments have called on Israel to end administrative detention and to ensure that all detainees are afforded due process under international law. Those calls have so far gone unheeded, with Palestinian prisoner numbers continuing to rise throughout the ongoing conflict.
