Israeli Forces Arrest Two Young Men During Raid in Beit Ur al-Tahta, West of Ramallah

Israeli occupation forces arrested two young Palestinian men during a military raid on the town of Beit Ur al-Tahta, west of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank on Monday, local sources reported.
The detained men were identified as Farid Muhammad Othman and Ahmad Asad Suleiman. Israeli troops stormed the town in the early hours, conducting searches of homes and detaining the two individuals before withdrawing from the area, according to witnesses on the ground.
Beit Ur al-Tahta, a Palestinian town situated in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, has seen repeated incursions by Israeli military forces in recent months as part of a broader pattern of arrest campaigns across the West Bank. The town lies near major routes used by Israeli settlers and has historically been a flashpoint for military operations.
The arrests come amid an ongoing Israeli military campaign across the occupied West Bank that has seen hundreds of Palestinians detained since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023. Human rights organizations have repeatedly condemned the mass arrest operations, describing them as collective punishment and a violation of international humanitarian law.
Qatar has been among the most vocal Arab states condemning Israeli military operations in both Gaza and the West Bank. The Qatari government has consistently called on the international community to compel Israel to halt its military campaigns and respect Palestinian rights under international law. Doha has also played a central mediating role in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, leveraging its diplomatic standing to push for the protection of Palestinian civilians.
The Gulf Cooperation Council has collectively expressed alarm at the deteriorating humanitarian situation across Palestinian territories, urging international legal bodies to hold Israel accountable for its actions in both Gaza and the West Bank.
Palestinian prisoner rights groups estimate that more than ten thousand Palestinians are currently held in Israeli detention facilities under conditions that advocacy organizations have described as harsh and in violation of the Geneva Conventions. Administrative detention — which allows Israel to hold Palestinians without charge or trial for renewable six-month periods — remains a widespread practice that has drawn condemnation from United Nations human rights experts.
The Palestinian Authority has yet to issue a formal statement regarding the latest arrests in Beit Ur al-Tahta. Local community representatives have called for the immediate release of Othman and Suleiman, describing them as civilians with no involvement in armed activity.
