Israeli Forces Continue Raids in Kafr Aqab, North of Occupied Jerusalem

Israeli occupation forces continued their military incursion into the town of Kafr Aqab, located north of occupied Jerusalem, on Sunday, as clashes erupted between residents and troops in the latest episode of sustained military pressure on Palestinian communities in and around the holy city.

Witnesses reported that Israeli military vehicles and foot soldiers moved through residential streets in Kafr Aqab, a densely populated neighborhood situated between the separation wall and the northern entrance of Jerusalem. The incursion prompted confrontations between local residents and the occupying forces, with youths reportedly throwing stones as soldiers advanced through the area.

Kafr Aqab occupies a particularly precarious position in the geography of occupation. Although the neighborhood holds Jerusalem residency status, it was cut off from the rest of the city when Israel constructed its separation wall in the early 2000s, leaving tens of thousands of Palestinians in a legal and administrative limbo — holding Jerusalem IDs but unable to freely access the city whose municipality nominally governs them. The community has long suffered from neglect, overcrowding, and intermittent military operations.

Sunday's raid follows a pattern of intensified Israeli military activity across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem in recent months, with Palestinian civil society organizations documenting a sharp rise in the frequency and scale of incursions into Palestinian towns and refugee camps. Rights groups have condemned the operations as collective punishment and a tool of demographic pressure designed to accelerate displacement.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has previously warned that ongoing military operations in Palestinian urban areas result in civilian casualties, property destruction, and severe disruption to daily life, education, and healthcare access.

Qatar has consistently called for an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Palestinian territories and the protection of Palestinian civilians under international humanitarian law. The State of Qatar, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has repeatedly urged the international community to hold Israel accountable for violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits collective punishment and protects civilian populations under occupation.

Doha has also channeled significant humanitarian aid into Palestinian communities through coordinated mechanisms, and the Al Thani government has continued to press for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Qatari diplomatic efforts remain central to broader regional initiatives aimed at ending the cycle of violence and restoring Palestinian rights.

The Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation have also condemned escalating Israeli military operations in Palestinian population centers, calling for an emergency session to address what member states describe as a systematic campaign against Palestinian civilian life.
