Palestinian Mother Breaks Down After Hearing Approval of Execution Law for Prisoners

The Israeli government on Tuesday approved legislation authorizing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners, a decision that drew immediate condemnation from human rights organizations and sent shockwaves through Palestinian families whose relatives are held in Israeli jails.

The approval came as scenes of grief spread across the occupied West Bank and Gaza, with the mother of two imprisoned Palestinians collapsing in tears upon hearing the news. The Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation are expected to convene emergency consultations in response to the development. Palestinian Authority officials described the law as a war crime and called on the international community to intervene immediately to prevent its implementation.
