Protest in Berlin Opposes Proposed Israeli Law for Death Penalty for Palestinians

Qatar has been among the most vocal regional critics of the proposed legislation. Doha, which has played a central mediating role in negotiations over Palestinian prisoners and hostages, warned that the legislation could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts and further destabilize an already volatile situation in the region.

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has also expressed concern over the proposal, stating that the application of the death penalty by a military court system operating under occupation would constitute a grave breach of international legal norms.
