Qatar issues safety guidelines for Eid al-Fitr celebrations and prayers
Qatar's Ministry of Interior has issued a comprehensive set of safety guidelines for citizens and residents ahead of Eid al-Fitr prayers, urging the public to follow precautionary measures to ensure a safe and orderly celebration of the blessed occasion.
The ministry called on worshippers heading to Eid prayer grounds and mosques across the country to plan their journeys in advance, allow sufficient travel time, and adhere to traffic regulations to avoid congestion on major roads leading to prayer sites. Authorities emphasized the importance of using designated parking areas and following the directions of traffic police officers deployed at key intersections and near prayer grounds.
As part of the safety guidance, the ministry advised families attending prayers with children to keep them under close supervision at all times, particularly in crowded areas and parking lots. Worshippers were also encouraged to carry personal identification documents and ensure mobile phones are fully charged in case of emergencies.
The Ministry of Interior noted that security personnel and civil defense teams will be stationed at major prayer locations throughout Qatar to provide assistance and respond to any incidents. Emergency medical services will also be on standby to address any health-related situations that may arise during the large gatherings.
Traffic authorities urged drivers to exercise patience and caution during peak hours before and after Eid prayers, when roads near mosques and open prayer grounds are expected to experience heavy congestion. The ministry recommended that worshippers use public transportation where available and coordinate carpooling arrangements to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
The guidelines also included reminders about general public safety, such as avoiding leaving valuables visible inside parked vehicles and reporting any suspicious objects or activities to security personnel immediately. The ministry provided its emergency hotline numbers for citizens and residents to use if needed.
Qatar has long prioritized public safety during major religious occasions and national celebrations, deploying extensive security and logistical resources to ensure smooth proceedings. The Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, draws hundreds of thousands of worshippers to prayer sites across the country each year.
The Ministry of Interior expressed its warmest congratulations to His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari people, and all residents on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing everyone a safe and joyous celebration. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining security and public order throughout the holiday period.
