Qatar Sends Over 100 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon on Emir's Orders

DOHA — Qatar dispatched more than 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Lebanon on Friday, acting on direct orders from His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, in the latest demonstration of Doha's enduring commitment to the Lebanese people during a period of acute hardship.
The Qatar Fund for Development, in coordination with the Qatari Armed Forces, loaded the shipment aboard a military transport aircraft that departed from Al Udeid Air Base bound for Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. The consignment included food parcels, medical supplies, shelter materials, winter clothing, and essential medicines destined for families displaced by ongoing instability and those struggling with Lebanon's protracted economic crisis, according to a statement carried by the Qatar News Agency.
Officials at the Qatar Fund for Development said the aid package was designed in consultation with Lebanese authorities and international partners on the ground to address the most pressing needs, with priority given to vulnerable communities in the south of the country and in densely populated areas hosting displaced families. Distribution will be carried out in partnership with the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Lebanese Red Cross, and United Nations agencies operating inside Lebanon.
The Lebanese government welcomed the shipment, with officials in Beirut expressing gratitude to the Amir and to the people of Qatar for what they described as a timely and generous intervention. Lebanon continues to grapple with one of the worst economic collapses in modern history, compounded by the lingering humanitarian fallout of last year's hostilities along its southern border, which displaced hundreds of thousands of residents and damaged critical infrastructure.
Qatar has consistently positioned itself as one of Lebanon's most reliable regional backers, providing budgetary support to the Lebanese Armed Forces, fuel shipments to ease the country's chronic energy shortages, and successive aid convoys since the 2020 Beirut port explosion. Doha has also played a quiet but persistent diplomatic role in efforts to end Lebanon's prolonged political deadlock and support the formation of a functioning government.
The latest airlift underscores the humanitarian pillar of Qatar's foreign policy, which places relief operations and crisis response at the center of its regional engagement. Under the Amir's directives, the Qatar Fund for Development has delivered aid to Gaza, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine in recent months, reflecting what Qatari officials describe as a principled commitment to standing with nations and peoples in distress regardless of geography or political calculation. Further shipments to Lebanon are expected in the coming weeks, officials indicated.
