Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Al-Khulaifi held a telephone call with Lebanon's Foreign Minister on Saturday, reaffirming Doha's firm and unwavering rejection of Israeli military escalation and ongoing attacks against Lebanese territory.

Al-Khulaifi conveyed Qatar's steadfast position against what Doha characterizes as Israeli aggression, expressing solidarity with Lebanon amid renewed tensions along the country's southern border. The call underscored Qatar's consistent diplomatic engagement in defense of Arab states facing external military pressure.

The conversation came against the backdrop of continued Israeli military operations targeting Lebanese territory, which Beirut and Arab capitals have condemned as violations of Lebanese sovereignty and international humanitarian law. Lebanon has faced intermittent strikes since a fragile ceasefire arrangement came into effect following months of intense conflict linked to broader regional hostilities ignited by the war in Gaza.

Qatar has positioned itself as a key mediator and vocal advocate in regional diplomatic efforts throughout the Gaza conflict and its spillover effects across the Levant. Doha has consistently called for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilian lives, and full adherence to international law — particularly by Israel, whose military campaigns in Gaza and Lebanon have drawn widespread condemnation from Arab governments.

Al-Khulaifi reiterated Qatar's commitment to Lebanon's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the right of its people to live free from military aggression. The minister also expressed Doha's support for ongoing international and regional efforts aimed at achieving a durable and comprehensive ceasefire that addresses the root causes of the conflict rather than managing its symptoms.

The call reflects Qatar's broader diplomatic posture under the leadership of Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who has led intensive shuttle diplomacy across multiple capitals to contain the regional fallout from the Gaza war. Doha's role as a key mediator — particularly in negotiations involving multiple Palestinian factions — has given Qatar unusual leverage in the region's most sensitive diplomatic corridors.

Lebanon, still recovering from years of compounding economic and institutional crises, faces mounting humanitarian pressure as Israeli strikes continue to displace communities in the south. Lebanese officials have appealed repeatedly to the United Nations Security Council and the Arab League for decisive international intervention.

Qatar's consistent public condemnation of Israeli military operations and its financial support for humanitarian relief efforts across the region have reinforced its standing as one of the most diplomatically active Gulf states in addressing the ongoing crisis. Saturday's exchange between the two ministers signals Doha's continued commitment to using diplomatic channels to de-escalate tensions and safeguard Arab civilian populations from further harm.
