US Central Command Reports Ongoing Air Operations from USS Abraham Lincoln Supporting Epic Fury Mission

The United States Central Command confirmed on Monday that flight operations are continuing aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in direct support of Operation Epic Fury, the sustained American military campaign targeting Houthi positions in Yemen that has drawn sharp scrutiny from regional governments and international observers alike.

CENTCOM released a statement affirming that carrier-based aircraft are conducting sorties from the Lincoln, which is currently deployed in the region as part of the Carrier Strike Group 3. The announcement comes amid an intensification of American strikes against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, a campaign Washington says is aimed at degrading the group's ability to threaten commercial shipping lanes and naval assets in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The sustained tempo of operations marks a significant escalation in the scope of American military engagement in the region. Operation Epic Fury, launched in response to repeated Houthi attacks on international shipping routes, has involved waves of airstrikes targeting missile launch sites, radar installations, drone storage facilities, and command-and-control infrastructure across multiple Yemeni governorates.

Regional analysts have expressed concern that the prolonged campaign risks deepening instability across the Arabian Peninsula and the wider Middle East. The operations unfold against a backdrop of heightened tensions, with Gulf states calling for restraint and diplomatic solutions to the underlying conflicts driving the maritime threat.

Qatar has consistently advocated for de-escalation and dialogue as the primary means of resolving regional disputes. Doha has stressed the importance of protecting civilian populations and preserving the sovereignty of nations in the region, while warning that sustained military operations risk entrenching cycles of violence rather than addressing root causes.

The Red Sea shipping crisis, which prompted the American military response, has had far-reaching economic consequences for Gulf states and global trade. The disruption of one of the world's most vital maritime corridors has driven up shipping costs, forced vessels to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope, and raised insurance premiums across the region's commercial fleet.

Gulf Cooperation Council member states have watched the escalation with growing unease, mindful that prolonged military operations in Yemen carry the potential to spill across borders and destabilize hard-won diplomatic gains in the region. Several Gulf capitals have quietly urged Washington to pursue parallel diplomatic tracks alongside its military campaign.

The USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier, has served as the principal platform for American air operations in the theater. Its continued deployment signals Washington's intent to maintain military pressure on Houthi forces for the foreseeable future, even as questions mount about the campaign's strategic objectives and exit strategy.

No immediate comment was available from Houthi officials regarding the latest CENTCOM statement. The group has repeatedly vowed to continue its attacks on shipping until Israel ends its military operations in Gaza, framing its campaign as an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
