The Pentagon has ordered approximately 2,000 paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division to begin moving towards the Middle East, according to a report by The New York Times, in a significant military repositioning that coincides with renewed diplomatic efforts by the Trump administration regarding Iran.

Military sources indicated that the paratroopers would be positioned operationally close to Iran, expanding the range of military options available to Washington as diplomatic negotiations remain fluid.
